Accelerated Reader AR

AR policy for Sky Ranch

Sky Ranch uses Accelerated Reader as part of our reading program of instruction.  This piece of software is online and used through an Internet connection.  The software is called Renaissance Place and provides access to AR quizzes for individual books, Other Quizzes that go with our adopted reading series, and diagnostic tests STAR and STAR Early Literacy.  Teachers use Ren Place along with Success Maker, Destination Reading, and many various print materials to teach reading in grades K-6.  

Teachers evaluate students' reading abilities with several diagnostic tools.  Once teachers know a students instruction reading level students are given a Reading Range to choose AR books for reading.  These AR quizzes provide a percentage score as well as points that teachers then use for further evaluation.   

AR and the school library media center.  

The media center/library supports AR with thousands of books and AR quizzes.  Books are labeled in our library. We own every AR quiz which has been created. Books can be looked up by quiz number, author, or title.
